Once these Hallmarks are present the Jewellery has then been sold to the public. Scrap gold can also be melted and sent to the Assay office to have what is called a special assay.
This assesses the content of gold in the bar by the Assay office. Damelt can then assess what that gold is worth by the gold fix that day.
